 Of all the Founding Fathers, Alexander Hamilton's contributions to the establishment of the United States' economy were unparalleled. A trusted advisor of George Washington during the Revolutionary War, Hamilton spent a lot of time thinking about what kind of government the new country needed. He studied European economies and governments, and maintained that strong federal power was necessary for the nation's survival.
